Jamie McMurray, driver of Roush-Fenway No. 26 Crown Royal Ford, won his third NASCAR Sprint Cup Race two weekends ago at Talladega and now is setting his sights on the future.
In his last season racing for Roush-Fenway, which has to narrow its organization to a four-car team, McMurray would appear to have a full-time ride in the 2010 NASCAR season driving for Earnhardt-Ganassi, racing the No. 1 Chevrolet currently driven by Martin Truex Jr.
Jamie won his first career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race driving for Ganassi, replacing an injured Sterling Marlin in 2002 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. McMurray is a former Ganassi driver, racing for Ganassi from 2001 to 2005 when he made his switch to the Roush Racing organization. Both Jamie McMurray and Bobby Labonte have been in the No. 1 team discussion. McMurray gained the edge with the recent Talladega victory. Earnhardt-Ganassi is expected to make a formal announcement on Jamie’s status with the No. 1 team by November 22nd race at Homestead, Miami. MORE NASCAR NEWS
