While Jimmie Johnson hopes to win his 4th consecutive NASCAR Sprint Cup Series title, other Chase for the Sprint Cup contenders are not losing hope that their efforts in Sunday’s Ford 400 may be the kryptonite that can help them defeat Superman.

Always the bridesmaid, never the bride, Mark Martin is 2nd in the series point standings. He has finished 2nd in points four times during his career but has never taken home the Cup.

Jeff Gordon still has a glimmer of hope that he will get his 5th championship and, if nothing else, he would like a good run to give his team momentum headed into next year.

The odds are in Johnson’s favor but in NASCAR anything can happen and this weekend, no matter the outcome, will be one for the NASCAR history books.
