Martin Fastest In Saturday's First Cup Practice

mark-martinMark Martin recorded the fastest time in today's first practice session for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers and teams as they prepare for Sunday's Ford 400 season finale at the Homestead-Miami Speedway.

 

Martin's lap at 168.177 mph topped second fastest Denny Hamlin, whose best speeed was 167.884 mph. Jimmie Johnson was third on the chart at 167.863 mph.

 

Ryan Newman and Kyle Busch were fourth and fifth quickest of the 43 cars participating in the first practice session of the day.

 

Jeff Burton, Greg Biffle, Kasey Kahne, Joey Logano and Martin Truex, Jr. made up the balance of the top 10.

 

Final practice for the Sprint Cup Series is scheduled to start at 2:50 pm ET this afternoon.
