Champion’s Week Schedule of Events

wynnNow that Jimmie Johnson has been the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion for a full week, it is time for the official Champion’s Week to begin.

 

This week Johnson and the rest of the Chase for the Sprint Cup drivers will be very busy with various activities and hardcore race fans in the area of these activities have many chances to see their favorite drivers up-close and personal.

 

Today, Johnson will begin his week in his home state of California. At 11am PT, he will visit the school he attended, Crest Elementary School in El Cajon, CA, for a school assembly before heading to Camp Pendleton, CA for a fan fest for U.S. Marines and their families stationed at the base from 3-7pm local time. The NASCAR Street Tour with the interactive Ford vehicles, street teams, video games and giveaways will also appear with Johnson at the base. Then, there will be a homecoming celebration at the Lowe’s store at 9416 Mission Gorge Road in Santee, CA from 7-10pm local time.

 

Tuesday, December 1st, Johnson will be at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA from 10am – Noon PT for a Fan Appreciation Breakfast that is open to 700 invited hardcore race fans while the NASCAR Street Tour will hit various locations in the Las Vegas area.

 

Wednesday, December 2nd, the Chasers for Charity Fanfest begins at 10am local time. The Chase drivers will make appearances at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for a free event with multiple activities for hardcore race fans in attendance. At 1:30pm local time, the Charity Roast of Johnson will be held at the track’s Blackjack Club which is open to 300 guests who make a $250 donation to Speedway Children’s Charities. The Aflac Pit Stop Tour also begins on Wednesday. From 10am until 10pm each day, hardcore race fans can see NASCAR stock cars and receive prizes from NASCAR partners at multiple locations, including: the Fremont Street Experience at North 1st Street, NASCAR Café at Sahara Hotel & Casino, Fashion Show, Lagasse’s Stadium at The Palazzo, Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, The Coca-Cola Store, Monte Carlo Resort & Casino, New York-New York Hotel & Casino and the Welcome to Las Vegas Sign, all of which are located on Las Vegas Blvd.

 

On Thursday, December 3rd, the Aflac Pit Stop Tour continues, as well as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Victory Lap from 3:30pm to 4pm local time in which the Chase drivers will make a “Victory Lap” along Las Vegas Blvd which will include a pit stop. Hardcore race fans are welcome to view the event. Then, the NASCAR After the Lap presented by Tissot will be from 4:30pm to 5:30pm local time. The annual NMPA Myers Brothers Awards will be held from 1-2:45pm PT at the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino. Then, at 7pm local time on Thursday, Tony Stewart will present the third annual Stewie Awards. Stewart and Matt Yocum will present the awards for the best events of the 2009 season via a live broadcast on Sirius NASCAR Radio from the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.

 

On Friday, December 4th, the Aflac Pit Stop Tour will continue, as will the NASCAR Street Tour. The day will conclude with the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards Banquet which will be televised on SPEED at 9pm ET (6pm PT) when Johnson will accept his championship awards. Comedian Frank Caliendo will host the event.

 

The NASCAR Street Tour is scheduled to continue through Sunday, November 6th.
