NASCAR driver Mike Bliss has signed on with Tommy Baldwin Racing to drive the No. 36 Wave Energy Drink Toyota in 2010. Michael McDowell, who finished out the season in the No. 36 for Baldwin, will remain with the team and may run select races in a Wave Energy Drink sponsored car next year.
"Mike brings a lot of experience to the table and next year, we're stepping everything up," Baldwin said. "He gives us the best chance to qualify for the Daytona 500 and get ourselves in the top 35 in points after the first five events of the 2010 season. I'm very excited to have him on board along with our sponsor, Wave Energy Drink."
Bliss ran full-time in the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2009 and finished the year 5th in the point standings despite car-hopping for the last half of the season. He has also made 95 starts in the Cup Series during his 11-year career. In other news, crew chief Slugger Labbe has been released from TRG. Labbe called the shots for the No. 71 Chevrolet in 2009, the organizations’s first year of operation, and got the team its first top-10 finish. Labbe has been in NASCAR since the early 90’s and has been a crew chief for many drivers including Michael Waltrip and Sterling Marlin. Baldwin has announced that it is actively seeking a replacement for Labbe, but there is no word regarding Labbe’s future with another organization. MORE NASCAR NEWS
