Talladega Doing It's Part This Holiday Season
Friday, 11 December 2009 00:00

talladega-superspeedwayToday, from 7am – 6pm, Talladega Superspeedway is selling tickets for the 2010 Aaron’s Dream Weekend and setting aside 10% of each ticket purchased to help children in need. The money will be donated to the 13th annual Bake A Christmas charity auction and fundraiser.

The 2.66-mile speedway is also pairing up with WTDR Thunder 92.7 FM to hold a radio auction. In recent days NASCAR teams and drivers have been sending in numerous items to be placed in the auction.

At different times throughout the day, staff members of Talladega Superspeedway and WTDR Thunder 92.7 FM will commandeer the airwaves to place the donated racing memorabilia along with baked goods donated by people in the community.

Winning bidders in the area can stop by the station’s office in Oxford, AL to pick up their winnings. The Hardcore Race Fans wishing to take part but do not live in the immediate area can tune in to the station on www.wtdrthunder.com, and make their bids by calling toll-free at 1-800-709-9270.

“This is a great opportunity for our race fans to not only get their race tickets in time for the holidays, but to also directly impact the lives of less fortunate children in the area,” said Rick Humphrey, Talladega Superspeedway President.  “Bake A Christmas helps fulfill the Christmas wishes of children that would otherwise not receive any gifts at all.  If race fans have been waiting to purchase their tickets this year, I would say this Friday is the time to buy because you’ll be helping make Christmas come true for some really special kids.”
