After being let go as Kyle Busch’s crew chief at Joe Gibbs Racing in late October, Steve Addington has signed on to call the shots for Kurt Busch at Penske Racing in 2010.
Penske announced the news this morning. "Steve Addington has a proven track record of success in NASCAR and we are excited to welcome him to Penske Racing," team owner Roger Penske said. "By adding Steve to the winning Miller Lite team and working closely with Kurt, we believe we have the combination in place to compete for a championship as we head into the 2010 season."
Addington had been paired with the younger Busch since 2008. The duo had stellar seasons with eight victories in their first year together and four in the most recent season. However, they ended up a disappointing 10th in the final point standings in 2008 and missed the Chase for the Sprint Cup this year. Kurt Busch on the other hand won only two races but finished the 2009 season 4th in points. "I am really looking forward to working with Penske Racing, Kurt Busch and the Miller Lite Dodge team," Addington said. "This a championship-caliber team with a great driver and with the resources and experience at Penske Racing, we have the opportunity to add to the team's success starting next season."
