Richmond International Raceway has announced that Marylaurel Wilks will take over duties as Vice President of Marketing for the 0.75 mile D-shaped oval on January 7, 2010.
“I am so excited to be joining one of the best short tracks on the circuit,” said Wilks. “Richmond International Raceway puts together great promotions and marketing strategies and I’m looking forward to helping continue that success and make it the best race track in the country.” Wilkes is most known in NASCAR for her tenure with Lowe’s Motor Speedway serving as Executive Vice President, and working as Vice President of Communications and Investor Relations for Speedway Motorsports, Inc.
Once taking over her new position at Richmond, Wilks will direct every parts of the Marketing, Advertising and Promotions, Public Relations and Ticketing divisions. “We are looking forward to having Lauri join our team at Richmond International Raceway,” said track president Doug Fritz. “Lauri brings tremendous experience and great industry knowledge and relationships as she assumes her new role.
