On Friday, December 11 Talladega Superspeedway and WTDR Thunder 92.7 joined forces for the 13th annual Bake A Christmas fundraiser to raise $13,700 to be used to purchase gifts for less fortunate children throughout the venue’s surrounding area. The number is expected to increase a little due to last minute donations and purchases.
This year the top selling items were a checkered flag signed by all of the drivers who competed in the 2009 AMP Energy 500 at Talladega Superspeedway and a day at Talladega with Jim Jacobs and Rufus T. Raspberry of WTDR Thunder 92.7. In addition to ticket packages to the 2010 Aaron’s Dream Weekend, those items alone accounted for over than $2,200. “The listener and fan support during this year’s Bake A Christmas was truly amazing,” commented Talladega Superspeedway President Rick Humphrey. “Everyone stepped up with donations and purchases to make this a very successful year. It’s extremely rewarding to be involved with an event that is having such a positive impact on so many lives.” Tickets are still available for the 2010 Aaron’s Dram Weekend and can be purchased by calling 1-877-Go2-DEGA or by visiting www.talladegasuperspeedway.com.
