NASCAR Foundation Benefits From Volunteers
Friday, 01 January 2010 00:00

nascar-foundation-blood-driveHardcore race fans have volunteered over 10,000 hours in 2009 to help the NASCAR Foundation raise and contribute $1.8 million over the course of the year.

The Foundation saw an influx of volunteer support this year including their participation in the 4th Annual Blood Drive, which potentially saved over 15,000 lives, raising breast cancer awareness around the race tracks, and collecting funds to send over 150 children to Victory Junction.

“Thanks to the loyal fans of our sport, The NASCAR Foundation continues to fulfill – and exceed – our original vision for the organization,” Betty Jane France, the Foundation Chairperson, said. “To be able to engage so many fans and to provide such a large amount in contributions is both exciting and gratifying. The Foundation is doing important work … meaningful work. We are extremely grateful for the fans’ support which makes that work possible.”

Organizations with a specific focus on pediatric health were helped with Foundation funds this year and the Foundation coordinated with organizations to provide children with life changing experiences, unique experiences within the sport and educational opportunities.
