HUMMERs Complete Scrutineering And Depart
Saturday, 02 January 2010 00:00

team-hummerSince arriving in Argentina, Team HUMMER has been using every second to finish preparing for the 2010 Dakar Rally. The most vital preparation stage, scrutineering, was completed on New Year’s Eve and all three HUMMER rides passed the inspection.

Team HUMMER was the final team to go through the scrutineering process with their time slot at 2:15 pm local time. As NASCAR driver Robby Gordon led his team into the Buenos Aires convention center they were met with open-mouthed stares and loud cheers of appreciation.

The showing was the first time the team revealed their new and improved support vehicles which are longer and lower to the ground than most others. Needless to say, the impressive convoy got a lot of attention inside the convention center.

Since the inspection, all of the participating teams left Argentina’s capital for the first bivouac in Colon. Gordon was surprised by the South American route, especially the long trip through the Atacama Desert.

“I was excited to learn that the terrain will be a little different this year with even more sand dunes,” he said. “The HUMMERs are fast there, so it should be good for us.”dakar-rally-map

Just one more positive thing for Team HUMMER as they attempt this year’s Rally.

Today, the real racing will begin as the team’s leave Colon for the 684 km trek to Cordoba.
