Dakar Rally - Stage 4: Gordon Wins
Wednesday, 06 January 2010 00:00

robby-gordonAfter a very challenging stage 3 effort in the 2010 Dakar Rally, Robby Gordon and Team HUMMER rallied back to win stage 4 yesterday.

Gordon took the stage by one second over Stephane Peterhansel’s BMW in his Monster Energy/Toyo Tires H3 for the first time since 2007. He now sits 8th overall.

The win was a relief for the team after struggling in stage 3 due to lack of momentum from small restrictors.

“Here’s a stage we thought we were going to be good and we were – we went out and won,” Gordon said. “Now we’re still an hour behind overall and had our bogey yesterday, we just have to be strong from here on out and I feel that we can carry it through starting with today.”

The Monster Energy HUMMER was not the only successful one of the team, the Vanguard HUMMER finished the stage only 10 minutes behind Gordon in 8th place. team-hummer-dakar-rally

Today’s stage takes the drivers from Copiapo to Antofagasta, a 670km trek. The stage, stage 5, will challenge drivers with large sand dunes, larger than most of the drivers have ever seen.
