Veteran NASCAR crew chief Doug Richert has been named crew chief for Keyed-Up Motorsports, the new Sprint Cup Series team formed by Virginia businessman Raymond Key. Richert has begun crew chief duties at the team's shop in Mooresville, North Carolina.

Richert, a native of California, has more than 25 years of NASCAR experience, collecting a number of wins with drivers such as Dale Earnhardt, Ron Hornaday, Jr. and Greg Biffle. Most recently Richert served as crew chief for Robby Gordon in the latter stages of 2009.

"We have a lot of work to do before Daytona," Richert told HardcoreRaceFans.com. "Raymond Key is putting a lot of effort into getting this Cup team up and going. Raymond's got the realistic goals that I think we need to have and that is getting these cars together, getting a group of guys that can really work together, I think that's a big key."

"Doug Richert brings a wealth of knowledge to our team, he has worked with the best in NASCAR and we are excited to have him with the Keyed-Up Motorsports organization," team owner Raymond Key said. "Doug and I are working hard to assemble the best team possible and we are looking forward to going to Daytona next month."

Keyed-Up Motorsports is still searching for a driver to pilot the team's Chevrolet Impalas and will make an announcement, "hopefully in the next few days," according to team officials.
