NASCAR driver Robby Gordon finished 5th in yesterday’s stage in the 2010 Dakar Rally. There is now only two stages left in this year’s event.
The long route from San Juan to San Rafael took Gordon three hours, 41 minutes and 25 seconds to complete which was just under 11 minutes behind Carlos Sainz who won the stage and continues to lead in the overall standings.
"Today was another good day for the Monster Energy / Toyo Tires team. During the first part of the special, we were really, really good. We lost some time when we got stuck in a silk bed; I think that we could have won the special had we not had gotten stuck," Gordon said. "Given how strong the HUMMER was today, I know we have the capability to beat our competition. We have built a really good race team, and I'm sure with years to come we'll be great." Gordon moved up to 8th overall, from his previous 10th place position, and is five hours, 52 minutes and 34 seconds behind Sainz. Today’s stage will see the drivers travel 725 km from San Rafael to Santa Rosa in the second to last stage of the race. MORE NASCAR NEWS This article was added to at 9:15 am.
