Busch To Stay With Gibbs
Monday, 18 January 2010 18:03
kyle-buschJoe Gibbs Racing announced today that NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Kyle Busch will remain with the team. Although the contract details were not disclosed, it was made clear that the contract extension is a long-term extension.

“There is simply no question that he is an amazing talent in this sport,” President J.D. Gibbs said of Busch. “We’re thrilled to have finalized this long-term deal to keep him in the JGR family for years to come.”

Behind the wheel of a JGR ride, Busch has won 12 Cup races and 19 Nationwide races, nine of which came last year when Busch won the Nationwide championship.

Known for being an aggressive and outspoken personality, Busch was all smiles today as the deal was announced.

On top of this news, Busch is also preparing for his first year as a team owner in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. With definite plans for two trucks this year, one shared by Busch and Brian Ickler and the other driven by Tayler Malsam, Busch stated that a third truck will probably not be added as hoped.

“Man I wish, it’s so slim right now, there’s no golden goose. We’re looking for the golden goose to build the whole deal but I can’t just start up a race team with $600,000 from a sponsor to go for the first six races and say ‘ok Johnny (Benson) after the sixth race we’re shutting down’,” Busch said. “So now I’ve hired all those people to start the deal and now I’ve got to let them all go. It’s not fair to people so that’s how I look at it. You want to be able to run for the whole deal and run for the whole year long because then at least people have a foundation, they have a structure to stand on instead of just not knowing.

A very mature and business-savvy Busch presented himself today and is ready to take on his personal future driving in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and gunning for a championship while balancing his business future as a team owner.
