Thursday, 21 January 2010 17:32

legendsCharlotte Motor Speedway President and General Manger Marcus Smith has announced that the track will hold a three day Legends racing event July 15-17 with a $1 million purse.

A sister company to the track under Speedway Motorsports, Inc., 600 Racing was recently renamed to U.S. Legend Car International which builds the cars for the series.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers Joey Logano and David Ragan were on hand to give their opinion of the event after growing up in Legend cars and Bandoleros.

“There’s gonna be a thousand cars showing up to this thing. Making the show is going to be hard enough, forget winning it,” Logano said. “It’ll be a lot of fun. David (Ragan) is gonna run it. I’m going to try to run it. I’m sure Kyle (Busch) will get a hold of this and decide he wants to race.”

Also at the event were current Legend drivers 18-year-old Kenzie Ruston, the 2009 Semi-Pro National Champion, and 19-year-old Daniel Hemric, the 2009 Pro National Champion.

With up to 1,000 cars entering the event and such a large purse, the race will be an exciting, unique event that will really show hardcore race fans what good, hard racing is.
