Rain Drenching Daytona International Speedway
Friday, 12 February 2010 14:40

rainWith three events on the schedule today, it looks like Mother Nature has taken the upper hand with NASCAR’s plans.

The Sprint Cup Series practice, which was scheduled to begin at 1:30 pm ET, was cancelled due to the downpour.

The last two events of the day, Nationwide Series qualifying at 3 pm and the Camping World Truck Series season opening race the NextEra Energy Resources 250 at 8 pm are at the mercy of the weather.

According to Weather.com, the precipitation percentage decreases from 100 percent to 85 percent at 5 pm but does not get below 75 until 9 pm tonight when it decreases to 20 percent.

With the clouds letting loose and the temperature hovering in the low 50’s, the NASCAR teams are playing the waiting game but the chances do not look good for the rest of the day’s events.

HardcoreRaceFans.com will post updates on the weather as the day goes on.
