The Auto Club 500 at Auto Club Speedway in California is the second race on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule. After getting back into the groove at Daytona, the teams will head out west, many with different paint schemes from the week before.
Marcos Ambrose’s No. 47 Toyota Camry was appropriately decorated with a red rose scheme at the season opening Daytona 500 which fell on Valentine’s Day. For this weekend’s race however the roses are gone and Ambrose will be sporting the orange, yellow and black colors of Armour All, a cleaning and protectant product line.
“Last week I was handing out roses for Kroger and this weekend we have Armor All on the car,” Ambrose said. “Armor All takes great pride in keeping a car looking good inside and out and so do we at JTG Daugherty Racing.” Meanwhile, Penske Racing drivers Sam Hornish Jr. and Brad Keselowski had a rough start to their season in Daytona when the two were involved in a multi-car accident, but the duo will get a clean start this weekend with new paint schemes. Both cars will carry the red, blue and white colors of AAA. Keselowski’s will be AAA Insurance while Hornish will have a different design representing the Auto Club of Southern California and its affiliated clubs, including AAA. “We need a good, solid finish this weekend in the No. 12 AAA Insurance Dodge Charger,” Keselowski said. “Unfortunately we lost some points at Daytona when we had our tire issues, but we can get those back. It’s easier to make up ground at the beginning of the season than it is later in the year. Auto Club Speedway is a good track to start working our way back.” Carl Edwards will also sport new colors in California. His Ford Fusion will carry a special “You Don’t Know Quack” Aflac scheme. The Auto Club 500 is scheduled to broadcast on FOX at 3pm ET Sunday. MORE NASCAR NEWS
