WWF wrestling superstar Steve Austin will serve as the honorary starter for the Auto Club 500 at Auto Club Speedway on Sunday, February 21st.
"Having been a NASCAR fan for years, it is a real honor to be chosen to waive the Green Flag at Sunday's race,” Austin said. “I can think of no better place to introduce my upcoming FOX film DAMAGE than at the Auto Club Speedway in front of tens of thousands of screaming race fans!"
In the movie “DAMAGE”, which will be released on DVD on March 23rd, Austin plays ex-con John Brickner who attempts to raise money for a little girl’s heart transplant by participating in underground fighting and its large sum prize money. Austin retired from wrestling in 2003 as the only person to win the Royal Rumble three times. He is a six-time WWF champion. Tickets for Sunday’s event are available by calling the track at 1-800-944-RACE (7223) or visiting the track’s website at www.autoclubspeedway.com. The Auto Club 500 is scheduled to broadcast on FOX beginning at 3pm ET. MORE NASCAR NEWS
