NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Carl Edwards announced the birth of his baby girl on his Facebook page today.
The 30-year old pilot of the No. 99 Aflac Ford Fusion for Roush Fenway Racing and his wife Kate have been awaiting the birth of Anne who weighed in at 8 pounds, 4 ounces on February 24th. Edwards had a relief driver on standby for last Sunday’s Auto Club 500 but the new addition made her arrival mid-week, just perfectly fitting into her daddy’s schedule and adding so much to their lives. “All of the well wishes and support from everyone mean a lot to us,” Edwards said on Facebook. “Kate’s doing great, though she’s having a little trouble burping Annie… whole new world!”
Baby Anne is the second of the recent NASCAR baby boom additions to make her entrance into the world. Elliott Sadler and his wife welcomed baby boy Wyatt recently. Defending champion Jimmie Johnson, his teammate Jeff Gordon and Juan Pablo Montoya are just a few of the drivers who have announced that new additions to their families are on the way.
