2004 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion and Las Vegas native Kurt Busch earned the pole for Sunday’s Shelby American event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
With a fast lap of 28.614 seconds at 188.719 mph, Busch bested second place Jeff Gordon by just over one hundredth of a second. Ryan Newman, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Busch’s younger brother Kyle Busch round out the top-5 for Sunday’s event.
Joey Logano, Greg Biffle, Mark Martin, Tony Stewart and Juan Pablo Montoya, who was fastest in the series’ practice earlier today, complete the top-10.
