mark-martinNASCAR Sprint Cup Series veteran Mark Martin has been showing his strength every weekend since the beginning of the 2010 season. He took the pole at Daytona and has been the fastest in multiple Cup practice sessions since the year started.

He once again topped the practice charts this afternoon at Atlanta Motor Speedway with a time of 29.270 seconds at 189.409mph. The lap just barely bested Kyle Busch who ran a 29.293 second lap.

Kasey Kahne, Ryan Newman and Juan Pablo Montoya rounded out the top-5 putting three different manufacturers in the top-3 spots.

Denny Hamlin ended the session in 6th followed by Martin’s Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jimmie Johnson in 7th. Matt Kenseth, David Ragan and Dale Earnhardt Jr. completed the top-10.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will qualify at 6pm ET today on SPEED for Sunday’s Kobalt Tools 500 which is scheduled to broadcast on FOX at 1pm ET.
