Logano Leads First Cup Practice At Bristol

joey-loganoJoey Logano, a sophomore in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competition, topped the charts in the first of three Cup practices at Bristol Motor Speedway in preparation for Sunday’s Food City 500.

 

Logan’s fast lap of 15.460 seconds beat Matt Kenseth’s 15.479 laps by nearly two hundredths of a second.

 

Hendrick Motorsports teammates Mark Martin and Jimmie Johnson ended the session in 3rd and 4th, respectively, with Kasey Kahne rounding out the top-5.

 

Juan Pablo Montoya, Martin Truex Jr., Scott Speed, Carl Edwards and Jeff Gordon completed the top-10.kyle-busch

 

Dave Blaney in his PRISM Motorsports ride ended up an impressive 14th.

 

Some of the more disappointing runs include Brad Keselowski in 26th, Dale Earnhardt Jr. in 30th and Kyle Busch in 38th.

 

Casey Mears in the No. 90 Keyed-Up Motorsports Chevrolet is showing more strength at Bristol than he has at any other track this year and finished practice in 34th while Kevin Conway was the slowest of the 45 cars who took to the track.

 

The Sprint Cup Series drivers will qualify at 3:30pm ET today.
