NASCAR Issues Penalties To Four Cup Teams

bootie-barkerNASCAR handed down peanlties today to four Sprint Cup Series teams in response to rules violations discovered during post-qualifying inspections last Friday, April 16, at Texas Motor Speedway.

 

"Bootie" Barker, crew chief for Max Papis, and Frank Kerr, crew chief of the No. 47 driven by Marcos Ambrose, were fined $75,000 each and placed on NASCAR probation until December 31, 2010 for violating Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 20-2.3A (unapproved added weight); 20-7 (all engine cooling system components must be approved by NASCAR prior to being used in competition); and 20-7.3A (radiator mount; failure to submit components) of the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series rule book, according to NASCAR.

 

Also penalized for rules infractions were David Reutimann's crew chief Rodney Childers and Martin Truex, Jr.'s crew chief Pat Tryson. Childers and Tryson were fined $25,000 each and both are also on probation through December, 2010 for violating Sections 12-1; 20-7; and 20-7.3A.
