Kevin Harvick got the victory in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Aaron's 499 at Talladega Superspeedway today. Harvick barely edged out this year's Daytona 500 winner Jamie McMurray to end his 3-year, 115-race winless streak. The race went into overtime and NASCAR's best attempted the green-white-checkered finish three times. Joey Logano sent Ryan Newman spinning and caused the 'big one' which forced the second try and an incident that ended with 4-time champ Jimmie Johnson in the wall with heavy damage resulted in the final restart attempt in which Harvick started 3rd.
McMurray's Earnhardt Ganassi Racing teammate Juan Pablo Montoya finished 3rd behind Harvick and McMurray. Last week's winner Denny Hamlin ended up 4th followed by Mark Martin in 5th. David Ragan, Clint Bowyer, Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch and Mike Bliss completed the top-10. Johnson ended up 31st with Newman and Logano in 35th and 36th, respectively. Next weekend NASCAR's premier series will go short-track racing at Richmond International Raceway Saturday night. AARON'S 499 RACE RESULTS MORE NASCAR NEWS
