After Denny Hamlin dominated Darlington and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series took some time off, all three of NASCAR’s top divisions are ready to take on Miles and the Monster Mile of Dover International Speedway.
Beginning Thursday afternoon the Trucks will be ready to prove their strength as they prepare for Friday afternoon’s Dover 200. During the series’ most recent event, Ron Hornaday and Johnny Sauter dueled for the checkered flag and tried their hands at drifting along the way. In the end Sauter prevailed, but Timothy Peters held on to the top spot in the standings; he leads over Todd Bodine by 22 points.
Meanwhile, Hamlin made his way to Victory Lane at Darlington Raceway twice last weekend; once in the Nationwide Series event on Friday and again Saturday night for his third Sprint Cup win of the year so far. The wins were a special Mother’s Day present for his Mom who was at the track to celebrate and it again proved that his knee surgery will not take away from his on-track success. With Hamlin and 4-time champion Jimmie Johnson tied with 3 wins this year, the most in the series, the championship battle is heating up early this season. However, Kevin Harvick is still on top of the standings by 110 points over Johnson and Hamlin currently sits 6th. They both have a long way to go but this duel is already beginning to develop.
