Martin Truex put his Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota on the pole for Sunday's Autism Speaks 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race after posting a lap at 157.315 mph in qualifying. Truex scored his only Cup Series victory at Dover three years ago.
"Hopefully, the best is yet to come and we'll be in here talking to you Sunday," Truex said in the media center after his pole winning run.
Kasey Kahne will start second with a lap at 157.274 mph. Mark Martin, Kyle Busch and Jimmie Johnson completed the top-five qualifiers. Johnson led the first of three practice sessions scheduled this weekend. Todd Bodine and Max Papis did not make the field.
