earnhardt-familyThe first NASCAR Hall of Fame induction ceremony, held Sunday afternoon in Charlotte, North Carolina, brought many stock car racing legends and indutry veterans together with their families, providing the opportunity to share stories and reflect on how far the sport has come.

Bill France, Sr., along with Richard Petty, Bill France, Jr., Junior Johnson and Dale Earnhardt were voted last October as the inaugural class and were enshrined during today's ceremony.

Jim France, son of Bill, Sr. and brother of Bill, Jr., spoke on behalf of the France family in acceptance of his fathers induction.

"Let me begin by saying my family is so proud on this memorable afternoon," Jim France said. "With the induction of my father and my brother, Bill, we would like to thank the Hall of Fame voting panel for including them in this inaugural class, with Junior, Richard and Dale, who were truly the iconic heroes of NASCAR."

With family being a common denominator throughout the ceremony, several emotional as well as light-hearted moments were shared by those in attendance.

Richard Childress was joined on stage by Teresa, Kerry, Kelley, Dale, Jr, and Taylor Earnhardt for Dale Earnhardt's induction.

Teresa Earnhardt quoted her late husband during an emotional speech, "'I've had a great career and if it ended tomorrow, I'd have no regrets.'''
