Busch Two For Two At Charlotte
Sunday, 30 May 2010 21:24

kurt-buschAs the laps wound down in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series' longest race, the Coca-Cola 600, Kurt Busch was 20 laps away from going two-for-two at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Busch won the All-Star race last Saturday and had over a one second lead with 8 laps to go over Jamie McMurray.

Everyone seemed to be waiting for a caution to come out and put a wrench in the plan that was setting up for the Blue Deuce but never came even though Chip Ganassi was certainly hoping to go to Victory Lane twice in one day. McMurray's win would have put the icing on the cake after the famous team owner got the Indy 500 win earlier today with Dario Franchitti.

"That's what I'm talkin about," Busch said over the radio as he crossed the stripe.

Busch is the 7th driver to win both the All-Star event and the 600 in the same year.

"My old buddy Penske beat me tonight," Ganassi said. The two team owners, Ganassi and Roger Penske, both also have teams in the IndyCar Series.

Penske was certainly dominant tonight after leading over 250 laps.

Unfortunately, Kurt's little brother Kyle was not as lucky as his brother and ended up getting a lecture from Cup veteran Jeff Burton after the race. The younger Busch ended up finishing 3rd.

Mark Martin finished 4th and last year's winner David Reutimann earned a top-5 finish.

Jeff Gordon, Clint Bowyer, Paul Menard, pole-sitter Ryan Newman and Matt Kenseth rounded out the top-10.

Burton finished a disappointing 25th after contact with Busch's No. 18 machine cut down his left rear tire.

4-time and defending Series chamion Jimmie Johnson got another DNF and ended up 37th after multiple visits with the walls of Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Next weekend the NASCAR superstars will take on the wicked triangle-shape of Pocono at 1pm ET Sunday on TNT.
