Kurt Busch will start from the pole in Sunday's 400-mile NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway after posting a lap at 189.984 mph to edge Jamie McMurray in the qualifying session held Friday afternoon.
Jimmie Johnson, Kasey Kahne and Jeff Burton complete the top-five starters.
Current points leader Kevin Harvick qualified 31st with Kyle Busch, who is 19 points behind Harvick, set to take the green from the 15th starting position.
