no-83-red-bull-toyotaCasey Mears, who was named to replace an ailing Brian Vickers in the Red Bull No. 83 last month at Dover, will not return to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team, according to Sirius NASCAR Radio's Sirius Speedway with Dave Moody.

Road course ace Mattias Ekstrom was recently named to drive the No. 83 Toyota at Infineon this weekend with Mears assumed to be back in the car for the following race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

According to the Sirius Speedway report, no decision has been made as to who will pilot No. 83 after Sunday's Toyota/Save Mart 350.

Mears was involved in an incident with Red Bull Racing teammate Scott Speed last Sunday at Michigan International Speedway, a situation that prompted Speed to question Mears ability.

Mears began the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule with Keyed-Up Motorsports, who fielded the No. 90 for the first seven races of the season. Mears left Keyed-Up Motorsports at Martinsville, subbing for Denny Hamlin before being named to step in for Brian Vickers, after he was diagnosed with blood clots.
