After Jamie McMurray's Earnhardt Ganassi Racing teammate Juan Pablo Montoya dominated the 17th annual Brickyard 400, McMurray was the one who took the checkered flag.
Montoya ended up in the wall as the laps wound down and McMurray got to the top spot and never looked back. The win is historic since McMurray also won this year's Daytona 500 and it also added another win to Chevrolet's long-running domination at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. "This is a big big day for our team," team owner Chip Ganassi said. Ganassi's IndyCar driver Dario Franchitti took the team to Victory Lane in the Indy 500 earlier this year.
"It's unreal right now," McMurray said. "Just shows you never give up and just drive your heart out every lap." McMurray did admit that he thought Montoya would be the one in Victory Lane. He thought it would be perfect for the team since he won Daytona and Franchitti won Indy that Montoya should bring it home in the Brickyard but it was not meant to be for Montoya. Kevin Harvick held off Greg Biffle for second and Clint Bowyer and Tony Stewart rounded out the top-5. Jeff Burton ended up 6th with Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch in 7th and 8th, respectively. Joey Logano and Kurt Busch completed the top-10. MORE NASCAR NEWS
