jack-roushNASCAR Sprint Cup Series team owner Jack Roush survived a plane crash Tuesday evening at Whitman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, escaping with minor injuries.

According to eyewitnesses of the crash, the fuselage of Roush's jet, a Beechcraft Premier 1A, cracked during a hard landing about 6:15 pm local time.

Roush was flying the plane, with a friend on board, from Detroit to participate in this week's Experimental Aircraft Association's annual AirVenture. Both Roush and the passenger were able to exit the aircraft without assistance.

"There are injuries. Possible surgery," Roush Racing president Geoff Smith said in a text message to AP. "But he walked out of the plane."

The NASCAR legend also survived a plane crash near Talladega, Alabama in 2002.
