For the last time in 2010, NASCAR makes right turns look cool. This time upstate New York will host drivers at Watkins Glen. As with both road courses, passing opportunities are limited, so a good qualifying run is key.
The drivers like the faster speeds on this road course, which many say makes for fewer wrecks. Pit strategy is a little different this week. The gas intake is on the left side of the car. The right, or what would be the passenger side, is against the wall, so four tire changes will start on the left side and go to the right – the exact opposite from oval-track racing.
This week’s video preview includes comments from Marcos Ambrose, Greg Biffle, Jimmy Johnson, Regan Smith, and Tony Stewart.
