This is not the time for mistakes. As the calendar turns another page, the Atlanta race carries added significance for those drivers near the edge of making the Cup chase. Atlanta is a track that can turn a dream race into a nightmare when a crew misses the setup. At the same time, drivers know the track is smooth, fans are knowledgeable, and the racing will be fast.
Beginning next year, the September race will be the track’s premier NASCAR event. After 50 years of hosting two races, the 2011 schedule has cut that number in half.
Commenting on Atlanta this week are Kyle Bush, Carl Edwards, and Jamie McMurray.
