Hamiln has earned five Sprint Cup victories in 2010 but has lost momentum recently, finishing 14th or worse in six of the last nine races.
Ryan Newman grabbed the outside pole with a lap of 187.070 mph. Kyle Busch starts third, Carl Edwards fourth and Tony Stewart fifth. Qualifying sixth through tenth in the 43-car starting field were Juan Pablo Montoya, Jimmie Johnson, David Ragan and Kasey Kahne. Todd Bodine, Scott Riggs, Jason Leffler and Landon Cassill did not qualify for the Emory Healthcare 500. MORE NASCAR NEWS
