The NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series are at Richmond International Raceway this weekend, combining for a total of 650 laps of racing set for Friday and Saturday evening at the beautiful .750-mile facility created by the late Paul Sawyer.
Nationwide Series drivers hit the track Thursday morning at 9 a.m. for six hours of practice with a one hour lunch break at noon. Nationwide teams are receiving extra practice time to test the new COT car being used this weekend. Friday will be a busy day at RIR beginning with Nationwide Happy Hour at 10 a.m. The first of two Sprint Cup practice sessions start at noon with the second getting underway at 2:45 p.m. Catch both Cup practices live on ESPN2. ESPN2 will also televise Nationwide qualifying at 4 p.m. and Sprint Cup qualifying at 5:40 p.m. Friday afternoon as well as the Virginia College Savings 250 Nationwide race at 7 p.m. Friday evening. Saturday night's Air Guard 400 Sprint Cup Series event will be broadcast live from Richmond International Raceway on ABC at 7:30 p.m. All times are eastern.
