Denny Hamlin toured the 1/2-mile Martinsville Speedway at 97.018 mph in qualifying Friday afternoon to claim the pole for Sunday's Tums Fast Relief 500. Hamlin, a native of Virginia, edged Marcos Ambrose for the inside front row starting position. Ambrose starts on the outside after recording a lap of 97.003 mph.
Greg Biffle and Ryan Newman make up row two of the 43-car starting field with Juan Pablo Montoya and Tony Stewart line up in row three.
Carl Edwards, David Reutimann, Jamie McMurray and David Regan complete the top-ten. Michael McDowell, Robby Gordon,Terry Cook and Johnny Sauter failed to qualify. The Tums Fast Relief 500 will be televised live on ESPN at 1:00 pm ET Sunday. MORE NASCAR NEWS ? ? ?
