juan-pablo-montoyaJuan Pablo Montoya took advantage of an early qualifying run to grab the pole for Sunday's Amp Energy Juice 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway. Montoya covered the high-banked 2.66-mile facility at 184.460 mph to beat out Clint Bowyer's lap of 184.498 mph for the inside front row starting position.

Sunday will mark the second time Montoya has started from the pole at Talladega, the Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing driver also claiming the top spot for the Aaron's 499 in April 2009. Montoya was the sixth driver to take time in Saturday's qualifying session.

Bowyer lines up second on Suday's grid with Kurt Busch third, Joe Nemechek fourth and Jeff Burton fifth.

Starting sixth through 10th are Dale Earnhardt Jr., Dave Blaney, Ryan Newman, Casey Mears and Sam Hornish Jr.

Landon Cassill, Travis Kvapil and Johnny Sauter did not make the field.

The Amp Energy Juice 500 will be televised live from the Talladega Superspeedway on ESPN Sunday beginning at 1:00 pm ET.
