In each of Jimmie Johnson’s previous four championship seasons, he’s about had things wrapped up with three races to go. Not so fast this year. Johnson’s 14- point lead over Denny Hamlin and a 38- point edge over Kevin Harvick means there’s more at steak than just steak in this week’s stop in the Longhorn state.
So what’s the game plan? Will it be hold back for a last-minute push Talladega style, or is the best place to be this week in the front from the green to the checker?
Johnson is hoping his experience will make the difference, while the other drivers will hope sticking to their game plan will lead to victory lane.
