denny-hamlinDenny Hamlin held off a strong challenge by Matt Kenseth to win Sunday's AAA Texas 500, his second victory at the Texas Motor Speedway this season. Hamlin now has a 33-point lead on Jimmie Johnson in the Chase with two races remaining.

Johnson had a frustrating day, posting a ninth-place finish after encountering problems on two pit stops, prompting crew chief Chad Knaus to make a rare pit crew change during the race. The crew of Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jeff Gordon serviced the No. 48 Chevrolet on pit road late in the race after Gordon exited the event early as a result of being in an accident with Jeff Burton.

Gordon climbed from his car and crossed the track to confront Burton, Gordon shoving the RCR driver before NASCAR officals seperated them. Burton accepted responsibility for the accident.

"It was my fault," said Burton. "I don't blame him for being mad. I would have been mad too. I don't have a bit of a problem with what he did."

Kenseth finished second, followed by Mark Martin, Joey Logano and Greg Biffle.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series visits Phoenix International Raceway next weekend.
