Ryan Newman and wife Krissie have a new addition to the family, baby daughter Brooklyn Sage Newman was born Thursday. The Newman’s announced the birth of their first child on Twitter Thursday evening.

Newman said mother and daughter were doing fine.  No other details were released.

Ron Hornaday, Jr. had agreed to stand by for Newman at Homestead in the event Brooklyn arrived over the weekend. Newman now will be able practice, qualify and run Sunday's Ford 400 knowing all is well at home. 

NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers Carl Edwards, Elliott Sadler and Jimmie Johnson have also become first time dad’s this year.
