Kasey Kahne starts from the pole in Sunday's Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway after laying down a lap at 176.904 mph on the 1.5-mile oval in Friday's qualifying session. It is Kahne's first pole effort with the Red Bull No. 83 Toyota.
Carl Edwards, winner at Phoenix last weekend, earned the second starting position and lines up along side of Kahne on the outside of row one. Edwards clocked in at 176.725 mph. Jamie McMurray, Bill Elliott and A.J. Allmendinger complete the top-five starters on Sunday's grid. Chase contenders Jimmie Johnson starts sixth, Kevin Harvick 28th and point leader Denny Hamlin will take the green from 37th. Michael McDowell and Patrick Carpentier did not make the field.
