NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Benny Gordon recorded the fastest lap in ARCA testing Wednesday at Daytona International Speedway. Gordon clocked in at 185.897 mph to lead all 39 drivers participating on day two of the three-day test session.
"We have, obviously, a really good car right now," said Gordon. "We did a lot of qualifying runs the first thing this morning and the car's pretty decent by itself, but the car's extremely fast in the draft. We hung around that top 10 in qualifying trim and qualifying runs, but in the draft it was really good."
Wednesday afternoon was the first time drivers were allowed to run in the draft since testing began Tuesday morning. Chad McCumbee's lap at 185.847 mph was the second fastest of the day, followed by Ty Dillon, Sean Corr and Joey Licata, Jr. Thursday will mark the final day of ARCA testing at Daytona before the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 on Saturday, February 12, 2011.
