Australian police have released Tony Stewart and the NASCAR Sprint Cup driver is reportedly on his way back to the United States after an incident at Sydney Speedway, according to speedcafe.com.au.
The latest report states that Sydney Speedway co-owner Brett Morris has yet to be interviewed regarding the alleged physical assault as police continue to investigate the matter. Stewart is not obligated to return to Australia unless police bring charges. Stewart was apparently arrested at Sydney Speedway and taken to the local police station for questioning. “A 39 year-old man was arrested at the scene and was taken to Parramatta Police Station after a 46 year-old man was allegedly struck in the face by a racing helmet, speedcafe.com.au reported. “The 39 year-old man was released by police without charge, pending further investigation.” MORE NASCAR NEWS
