Legendary NASCAR driver and team owner Junior Johnson will appear Saturday, January 22 at the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History in Mount Airy, North Carolina as the museum kicks off their annual stock car racing exhibit.
The “White Liquor and Dirt Tracks: Legacy of Teamwork" exhibit began in 2009 and highlights the areas role in building the sport into what it is today. The 2011 display features components built by Richard Childress Racing, Hendrick Motorsports, Petty Enterprises, Wood Brothers Racing, Michael Waltrip Racing and the NASCAR Hall of Fame Museum. "We're very excited to have Junior participate in the event," said museum director Matt Edwards. “He’s not only a pioneer in the sport, but really embodies the grassroots origins and entrepreneurial spirit of today’s racing industry.” A full day of activities are planned and include a meet and greet with retired drivers and racing officials, a display of vintage race cars and moonshine runners as well as live music. Saturday's event will be open from 10 a.m until 5 p.m. and there is a charge for admission. Visit www.northcarolinamuseum.org or call 336-786-4478 for more information. MORE NASCAR NEWS
