denny-hamlinDenny Hamlin led the second day of the three-day NASCAR test Thursday at the recently resurfaced Daytona International Speedway. Hamlin clocked in at 196.868 mph to edge Tony Stewart for the top spot on the speed chart. Stewart ran his fastest lap at an average speed of 196.855 mph.

Joey Logano posted the third fastest lap at 196.691 mph.

A total of thirty-four cars took to the 2.5-mile track on Thursday after rain wiped out the morning session.  NASCAR extended the afternoon session until 6 pm ET, allowing an additional hour of track time as a result.

Saturday marks the final day of Sprint Cup testing before the 53rd annual Daytona 500 on February 20th. Several drivers, including Jamie McMurray, Juan Montoya, Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Clint Bowyer, David Reuitmann and Martin Truex, Jr., do not plan to participate in Saturday's test sessions.
