Wood Brothers Racing are dedicating their 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup season to David Pearson in honor of the legendary driver's induction into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in May. Pearson earned 51 poles and 43 Sprint Cup Series wins during his time behind the wheel of the famed No. 21.
The year-long celebration begins next month when the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Fusion will feature a special paint scheme in the season-opening Daytona 500. When car No. 21 hits the track for Speedweeks, fans will see the red and white scheme, complete with gold numbers, that carried Pearson to his first victory with the Wood Brothers in 1972 at Darlington Raceway. Team co-owner Eddie Wood is happy to have Motorcraft/Quick Lane and Fordparts.com on the No. 21 for 2011, the 11th consecutive season of sponsorship from Ford's Customer Service Division. “As we begin our 61st year, we’re really excited to have Ford Customer Service Division back for the 11th straight year,” said Eddie Wood. “And we’re proud to be able to honor David Pearson as a friend and as a 2011 inductee into the NASCAR Hall of Fame.” David Pearson remains second on NASCAR's all-time winners list with 105 career victories. Trevor Bayne will pilot the Wood Brothers No. 21 Ford in at least 17 NASCAR Sprint Cup races in 2011. MORE NASCAR NEWS
