The engine room at Joe Gibbs Racing caught fire Friday morning during a dyno test of one of the Toyota team's powerplants. No injuries were reported in the 9 a.m. ET incident and sources close to the situation say JGR headquarters in Huntersville, North Carolina received mostly smoke and water damage.
The engine that was being tested is not one the team plans to use for Speedweeks at Daytona, according to sources. The fire affected two rooms within the 230,000 plus square foot building that houses the Sprint Cup teams of Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch and Joey Logano. No offices were closed and team officials have been allowed access to the affected area. MORE NASCAR NEWS
