kurt-buschKurt Busch did what he needed to do Saturday night at Daytona International Speedway, keeping the No. 22 Penske Racing Dodge in the hunt until making a move on the final lap to win the 2011 Budweiser Shootout.

Busch, with Jamie McMurray in tow, went around Ryan Newman on the high side as Denny Hamlin dove low for a wild finish. Hamlin took the checkered flag but crossed the yellow line to complete his pass of Newman, a violation of NASCAR rules. Hamlin was scored on the end of the lead lap as a result and credited with a 12th place finish.

McMurray provided the push Busch needed to make the daring race-winning pass. "I'm going to call it teammate of the day and today McMurray was my man," Kurt Busch said in Victory Lane.

Jamie McMurray finished second followed by Ryan Newman, Jimmie Johnson and Greg Biffle.

Dale Earnhardt, Jr. started the Shootout from the pole but was caught in an accident with Carl Edwards and Regan Smith. The No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet received extensive damage and was unable to continue.

The 2011 Budweiser Shootout saw a record 28 lead changes.
